Poetry: Souls in bloom

“Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature.”—Gerard De Nerval

April is National Poetry Month and it is therefore befitting to quote a well-known French poet and writer from the 19th century to accompany photos of my blooming flowers. What a lovely thought, Mr. Nerval had, to imagine each bloom being a soul that is blossoming. Extremely poetic and beautiful. The downside is the tragic ending to Mr. Nerval’s life.

One can always remember his contribution to poetry, however, and remember him well, as I’m sure he would have liked for us us to remember him.

Gerard De Nerval 1808-1855
