Calming the soul

Image

This life can hold so much beauty for us yet sometimes stress can overwhelm us, our minds feel crowded, and we seek a peaceful place to get away from it all—–a refuge. When I am not able to physically be in a place like this, such as watching a sun set over the water while calmly walking on a grassy hill, hearing the beautiful sound of birds singing while they get ready to nest for the nighttime, I often find other ways to relieve the noise of the moment or the day. I find that the overall practice of being positive and seeking wellness helps to combat those stressful moments.

Here are some ideas for (1) easing the stress of the day, (2) practicing wellness, and (3) focusing on positivity.

Prayer

Quiet time

Meditation

Music, such as Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” and other classics

Reading a positive book or beautiful poetry

Writing

Drawing

Being creative

Dancing

Singing

Taking a walk

Listening to water sounds, such as streams or ocean waves

Focusing, such as on a game, for example Mahjong

Healthy distractions, such as talking with a friend

Visiting with a pet

Aromatherapy

Massage

Various relaxation techniques and stretching, Yoga for example

Being in the sun for 15 minutes to boost the Vitamin D “Sunshine” vitamin

Drinking and/or eating that promotes wellness and boosts the immune system

These are all ways I find to be helpful in easing the stress of my day and helping me to be well. They may or may not work for you. The key is to find what works for you and what best helps you to be at ease and comfortable. Always consult a physician before starting any exercise program. Consider your health and mind and the holistic approach to wellness and simplicity.

Thank you for joining me. May you find peace and be well.
