S. National Historic Landmark and is known by scholars to be, “one of the finest examples of military architecture in the New World,” according to Wikipedia (wikipedia.org).

When walking the grounds, part of which is underground, you can feel a sense of history and nostalgia. You can almost imagine the sound of voices and cannons going off.

The site has both a colorful past and renovation history. When visiting the areas of Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, or Dauphin Island, be sure to make this fort one of your stopping points. It’s full of rich history and has excellent photo adventure qualities.

Moments of history by the bay to be enjoyed by all.
